Turi Beach Resort

Decided to get away to Batam for the weekend; throughly enjoyed myself. Some ppl mite think that Batam is not as good as BIntan, but i do beg to differ. Yes, not mainly Singaporeans go there; but aint that the whole purpose of a holiday? U will wanna go to some destination, away from the usual bustling of Singaporeans.

Stayed over at the Turi Beach Resort, they had such magnificient view of the sea, and the service staff were extremely polite as well.

Tried their oxtail soup and some ayam ayet *some chix dish*, was quite nice. Had it by this little hut near the beach. Felt like heaven, esp when there was a little breeze going on....

ONe little complain i have about the resort is dat ... the cocktails SUCK!!!!!! I had Pinacolada for starters at the pool.. and OMG it tasted like diluted cough syrup!!! Was daring enough to go for my 2nd cocktail; which was one of their "Turi Special: Tropical Paradise". which effectively tasted like a very strong cough syrup. I ordered their mocktails ever since... tasted so so so much better... hehe Dinner was good though,

Do Not Worry

Was reading Our Daily Bread online, and found this to be extremely extremely meaningful, esp for me.

Matthew 6:25-34
25' Therefore i tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26' Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27' Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

28' And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. Whatever that concerns us; what would be our perspective? It is not exactly what we see, but how we see it that reveals our attitude. If we look at life thru the lens of the Lord, we will trust him and not have to sorry so much. =)

Root Canal Treatment

Was in excruciating pain last night after dinner; had to pop 2 Synflex pills to numb the pain to allow me to sleep better. Thought it was just my gums (i have really sensitive gums) so din really think too much of it. Din really sleep well, cuz the throbbing pain was getting to me.

Woke up really early ard 7-ish, and told mum dat i had to see her today, but as it was her off day she cld not attend to me; went to her colleague Dr Alvin instead. And the moment he saw the OPG (some sorta Xray for dentists), he said "Bad news, u have to do root canal treatment"... the rest is history. Knowing me, obviously i had this great big fear about doing so, having done it once already. The L.A. was enough to kill me......

What is root canal treatment? It is bascially a treatment to treat the problems of the soft core (dental pulp). Dental pulp is the soft tissue dat contains nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue. An abscessed tooth is caused mainly by tooth decay (what a surprise!!). WHen the infected pulp is not removed, it can cause pain and swelling; with certain by-products of the infection injuring the jaw bone.

Basically, this is how your tooth is "saved" thru treatment:

1. First, an opening is made through the crown of the tooth.

2. An opening is made through the crown of the tooth into the pulp chamber.

3. The pulp is then removed. The root canal(s) is cleaned and shaped to a form that can be filled.

4. The pulp is removed, and the root canals are cleaned, enlarged and shaped.

5. Medications may be put in the pulp chamber and root canal(s) to help get rid of germs and prevent infection.

6. A temporary filling will be placed in the crown opening to protect the tooth between dental visits. Your dentist may leave
the tooth open for a few days to drain. You might also be given medicine to help control infection that may have spread
beyond the tooth.

7. The pulp chamber and root canals are filled and sealed.

8. The temporary filling is removed and the pulp chamber and root canal(s) are cleaned and filled.

9. In the final step, a gold or porcelain crown is usually placed over the tooth. If an endodontist performs the treatment, he or
she will recommend that you return to your family dentist for this final step.

Penang

just got a letter from EY over the weekend, informing me dat orientation would be carried out in Penang..... mixed feelings i suppose... i was really hoping dat it would be Bangkok as Tomio was suggesting..... but glad dat it wasnt Jakarta or Manila... kekeke thought i haven been to these 2 places and wld be interesting to visit....

Have to go EY for some form of information and stationery collection on the 6th June.... haha... they better give me a stupid calculator.. or else... lol lol...

Bdae Weekend!!!

this has certainly been one of the most happening weekend this year.. kekek

Went to epicurious for dinner, and had Sharon *not Lok; just the owner of the cafe* to whip up something special out of the menu. For starters, we had those vegs sticks with 2 dips: warm beetroot and cheese dill. And there was the garlic fries.... the veg dips were really fantastic... though i had one complain about the fries.... they were not warm enough... in fact kinda cold...
After dat came the soup, cant really make out what it was but it tasted kinda creamy with some really soft daikon...tasted very exquisite... =p

Mains were herb roast chicken on a bed of rossti; and also this really fantastic baked salmon on Angel's hair...... Chicken was jsut so so but the salmon was really really really really good... it was cooked to the T, juices were not lost... and one thing for sure... Tina finished the whole slice of it!!!!!!! Dessert was this apple crumble... very nice with cinnmamon ice cream... and Strawberry Shortcake from Pattisseur...

Dunmanian Gathering

met up with the dunmanian peeps for tea/dinner today.. and had such a jolly good time!!! 没道德 actually came to the gathering and din pang sei us!!!! lol lol.. and as usual she was the 'pistachio' of the grp...

been such a long long time since i last went back to Serangoon Gdn's Cartel with the gang and it has sure been nice reminiscing about our good old times... Yum was discussing with us how to handle the 'questioning' by her sup when she tenders in, and suddenly kohim just said "10 years ago, we were discussing how to handle BGR relationships, 10 yrs later we are discussing how to handle our bosses carefully...." what a stark difference... hahaa

we started to talk about our experiences at work, and 没道德 was commenting on her shitty pay increment, which i totally agree with..... yearly increment of NINETEEN BUCKS???? and an across the board increment of THREE % ??? thats really pathetic and quoting her "Kohim, feedback feedback!!!".... Kohim was having the "ya ya ya ya" look.. hahaa wat a comment...

Tips to look Skinny in Photos

According to Slate, "the flat, even illumination on the red carpet makes it hard for the camera to capture dimension, unlike in photo shoot with flattering soft lights. Cast from an angle, light create shadows that sculpt the face and body by hiding unwanted flesh. Softer lights can hide wrinkles and smooth out the skin for women, while harsher lights on males faces exaggerate lines for a chiseled look. Without the aid of shadows, however, light exposes the imperfections of the face and body and makes the resulting image bigger and flatter"


Gist of making one look thinner in photos:

(1) Turn partially sideways, planting one foor in front of the other.

(2) Pull your head forward to eliminate double chin

(3) Hold arms slightly away from the body

(4) Take a deep breath as you pull your shoulders back, chest forward

(5) Look away from the camera, then turn towards it, breaking into a smile before the camera clicks

had dinner with our Ms Ah Hobb at the HK cafe at Katong VIllage *again*... =p.. Had heaps of laughters and fun; talked about our stupid and duhz behaviour in the past, she toking about wanting to find a 揩子.. and saying dat shes very feminine, demure, bla bla bla.. basicallly the things shes not.... haha and yes Ms Hobb... u shd feel honoured dat i am naming this very entry in ur honour... kekee... and dun worry.. i wun say which primary sch u are teaching.... *a huge clue: a primary sch NEAR my house* lol lol lol.......


and see... im so nice.. i never scan our pics and upload it online.... but i will just print them out.. and make them into flyers to be distributed to ur sch.. since it being SOOO close to my house... lol... anyway.. had a really enjoyable time catching up with her... reminded me of my only jolly moments back in jc.. =)

2nd July 2007

after 3 months of waiting... EY finally got back to me on the date of commencement for work!... They have set it to be on the 2nd July. They also wanted me to fill in some particular regarding my passport number and those sorta particulars.. which just means dat we are going to have an overseas orientation !!!! yippieee.... lalalala... haha but destination has yet to be confirmed... =p
